We used mostly SCADA system for energy management. Why better AVReporter than SCADA? What is the difference?

The biggest difference is of course, that AVReporter is an Energy Management Software and becuse of this the purpose of the softwares are different.

    SCADA:
    - it is a process-automation software
    - it's working with short time-period and very dense data. Generally to ensure reliability.
    - contains programmed controlling logics, able to achieve very advanced process controlling tasks. For example when a product changes in a product line, a SCADA is able to fine-tune the power-ceils, change protection-relay parameters etc. The purpose it to make the production safer and more consistent.
    - a SCADA is able to log the measured data, but it usually has VERY limited reporting capabilities. The measurement data is usually kept for short period of time (a few weeks, moths)
    - a SCADA interface requires programming expertise to operate, manual coding is a common task
    - it is very hardware-close: some autmation tasks happen on hardware-level

    AVReporter (Energy Management Software)
    - long term tendency, efficiency analytics (storing the measurements for long time in it's database)
    - able to help us with our decidion making, foreplanning. For example an EMS can help us to optimize our demand power contracts torwards our electricity provider. Allows us to notice imbalance between production lines. Indirectly realize problems by analyzing anomalies (misconfigured production device, heat-insulation problems for buildings, EN50160 standard voltage-quality-problems etc.)
    - very easy report creation possibilities to analyze tendencies, costs, consumptions
    - real time monitoring possibilities with simple controlling possibilities
    - no special IT knowledge is needed to operate or create reports. User friendly interface, no coding is required for data visualization
    - calculations with the measurements
    - report scheduling, PDF/XLS exportation, sending reports in e-mails
    - user privilege management: the management see different reports than a maintenance person

As we can see an Energy Management System is completely different from a SCADA. Both of them are aimed to make our factory/residential unit/company more efficient and reliable, but SCADA approaches this task on lower level and extremely quick DIRECT reaction, while an EMS does it by a long range monitoring and helping with the foreplanning and decidion making.
