Meter disconnect - Realtime Data Service

Discussion in 'Realtime Communication' started by kovecses.balazs, May 9, 2017.

    1. I disconnected one of our meters
    • The meter was a Modbus TCP type.
    1. What I found was that it took quite a while for the AV Reporter software to automatically reconnect to the meter.
    2. Here are the disconnection and reconnection times.
    1. First disconnection time: 4:25:00 PM
      • Web pages of course don’t update for this time period
    1. AV Reporter disconnection alarm time: 4:25:17 PM
    2. Reconnected time the Modbus TCP meter: 4:27:30 PM
    3. Auto re-connection time by AV Reporter: 4:40:00 PM
    1. Second disconnection time: 4:46:00 PM
    2. AV Reporter disconnection alarm time: 4:46:23 PM
    3. Reconnected time the Modbus TCP meter: 4:48:00 PM
    4. Auto re-connection time by AV Reporter: 5:01:00 PM
    1. Could you let me know if this is normal and if it is can we speed the response for meter auto re-connection in some way within AV Reporter?
    • I know we can manually re-initialize the meter but if the software is unmanned this can’t be done and if there are many meters it becomes impractical.
    • Also this re-connection time affects the data logging for our Voltage/Current and Power reports.
  1. The config file of Realtime Dataservice contains a setting about device reconnection time.
    C:\Program Files\KONsys\AVReporter\AVR Real-time DataService\RealTime_DataService.exe.config

Value 900 means 900 seconds = 15 minutes. It is possible to modify this, but the right value depends on the number of the meters.
Modify it only on your own responsibility!!!
